Disciples will discover their spiritual gift and use it for the glory of God. Everyone has a spiritual gift. We are to be doers of the Word and not Just hearers of it as James wrote. Exercise that gift that is in you, Paul told Timothy. Don’t be timid let us get moving for the Lord. It was in the great commission, when Jesus told disciples to make disciples that he promised that He would be with them always. He does not leave his disciples stranded during a mission to accomplish. Paul also told Timothy that he should stir up the gift that was in him, I Tim. 4:14. Using the God given spiritual gift brings us progress in the Christian life and we glorify the Master’s name!

When in eternity all of God’s people will appear at the judgment bar to give account of how we used our life. God will recompense to each for his deeds during life according to what he has done whether good or bad, 2 Cor. 5:10.

What is your spiritual gift? There are a few places in the Word of God where various gifts of the Spirit are listed. When God gives a gift to a believer He doesn’t ever loose it but if he doesn’t use it he really does not have it. In Romans 12 beginning at verse 6 there is a list of gifts. Perhaps you have not thought of what your spiritual gift might be. Read this scripture and ask the Lord for wisdom in finding and using your gift. In I Cor. 12-14 there is much information about gifts, the use of them and what gifts are the best for others to see in operation. Don’t know what your gift is? The Lord won’t give you something that is not suitable for you. Look at the list of gifts in these two places and ask what would I be best at or which one do I have the most interest in. Find a person that is a mature Christian with a long faithful track record for God. If he or she is faithful to the Lord they are going to want to help you just for the love of Christ themselves. 

Submission: Being a disciple is allowing the Lord to help you be more like Jesus was in His every day life. The character of the disciple should demonstrate the fruit of the spirit as in the list found near the end of Gal. 5. The attitude of a disciple should not be similar to the attitude of a sinner. Humility is a godly characteristic seen in the Lord. More characteristics of true believers are encouraged and listed in the virtues listed in 2 Peter chapter 1. A disciple must ask the Lord for the development of his lifestyle. Aim for the highest level of truth and faithfulness to God.

Avoid neglecting other Christians. Encourage and bless, warn and speak the truth as it is in Jesus to all people especially those of the household of faith. Have compassion for the lost no matter who they are, this is as Jesus did. Stand for truth, right and godly ways. Defend the faith and always honor the Lord.

Jesus said to His disciples, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that what ever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you.” Jn. 15:16. The LORD wants us to be spiritual fruit bearers and that is what the disciple is rewarded for at the judgment seat of Christ, I Cor. 3. Disciples are happy Christians as they busy themselves for the Lord!
