Basic Discipleship Truth

Jesus called disciples and he instructed them to go and make disciples. The 3 years that Jesus and the disciples spent together are some of the most picturesque stories in the Bible. They are filled with truth about discipleship and we find Jesus moving the disciples away from their impulses to trust and obey Him. Discipleship is the strategy that Christ has to reach the world. The church should aim at discipleship more among its believers because this is the God given path to spiritual maturity and usefulness for the believer who is in God’s Kingdom. Servant hood and bond slaves are two words that speak of the servant relationship to Christ. Willing dedication to the Master of the universe and eternity is a good idea. No other place is wiser to assume for the redeemed child of God. Committing self into the hands of the Creator and resurrected Lord is wise. Discipleship is building on the Rock which stands all tests of time. Christ though humbled in His humanity is now exalted and extolled as the highest and given a name above every name. Even the rank sinner shall bow to Him eventually. Disciples bow now and through life and will in eternity. All authority and power is given to Him in heaven and earth. He is the blessed potentate the ONLY wise God. He came from the Father and is the exact representation the Father. In Him dwells all the fulness of the godhead bodily. It has pleased the Father to allow the fullness of the Godhead to dwell in Him. He is the alpha and omega the beginning and the ending of all creation; disciples love Him. His grace and love dictate his mercy that endures forever. He is the great I AM. He is coming in the clouds and every eye shall see Him. Disciples lift Him up and acknowledge Him to be more than their Savior, He is their LORD to the glory of God the Father. How would you rate your submission to Him on a scale of 1-10, 10 being a total sell out to Him as your Master? Are you His disciple?

Jesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts, Thou Fount of life, Thou Light of men From the best bliss that earth imparts We turn unfilled to Thee again.

Thy truth unchanged hath ever stood; Thou savest those that on Thee call;  To them that seek Thee Thou art good, To them that find Thee All in all.

We taste Thee, O Thou living Bread, And long to feast upon Thee still,    We drink of Thee, the Fountain-head. And thirst our souls from Thee to fill.

Our restless spirits yearn for Thee, Where’er our changeful lot is cast,  Glad when Thy gracious smile we see, Blest when our faith can hold Thee fast.

O Jesus ever with us stay, Make all our moments calm and bright; Chase the dark night of sin away, Shed o’er the world Thy holy light.
